Midway Flames 10u

Congratulations to the Midway Baseball Softball Association's 10u Flames, the 2023 SWI (South West Inner-league) champions.

About halfway through the regular season, the Flames had a strong 7-2 record, but then went on a 10-game winning streak that carried them all the way to the championship.

.

In their first playoff game they defeated the Bedford Park Blast. In the semifinals they faced Crestwood Magic Monkeys. It was a close contest decided by a walk-off hit to score a Flames runner from third.

.

In the title game, the Flames faced the Westside Warriors. It was a close game until the fourth inning, when the Flames' bats ignited and the girls won 8-2.

The Flames had outstanding pitching by Melanie Cahue and Ariel Nieves, who combined allowed only 6 runs in the playoffs. The Flames scored a total of 27 runs in the 3 playoff games.

Members of the champion 10u Flames are Olivia Aguilera, Mia Barona, Sofie Zavala, Lillybeth Rangel, Isabella Garcia, Emma Osornio, Andrea Cuellar, Ariel Nieves, Itzel Ballesteros, Melanie Cahue and Penelope Barrera. The girls are coached by Elsa Rivera, Margo Ramirez and Felix Cahue.
